Compact House Concept Designed To Serve As An Extension

Passion House M1 is not a residence or a unique house. It was designed by Architect 11 to serve as an addition for a possibly existing house or as an extension for a garden. It can also serve as a guesthouse or shed or it can be looked as as an independent development such as a summer cottage or beach house.
The structure was designed with two versions. One features a large sauna while the other has a main bedroom instead of that. The structure occupies an area of 51.4 square meters and it’s a project completed in 2013. It’s intended to match with other larger houses and it offers the possibility of having 10 different layouts and sizes.

They range from 40 square meters saunas to 500 square meter villas. In terms of materials and design, the concept combines prefabricated structural elements with on-site reinforced concrete. The house was designed to fulfill the energy consumption requirements in the Nordic countries.

The house is equipped with high standard ventilation systems and they features solar heating during spring and autumn. The materials used include wood which were employed for the walls and facades and glulam for the structural frame. Also, the houses were designed to be modern and to have more in common with stone and concrete structures than with traditional wooden houses.-Via

Cozy Modern Villa near Stockholm Gathering Lake Views

Located in Saltsjö-Boo, just 10 km away from downtown Stockholm in Sweden, this modern villa seen on Skeppsholmen seems to have been designed for a family who loves to be comfortable and in close connection to the outdoors. Form meets function in the perfect interplay, opening towards views of the nearby lake. A well-equipped kitchen in the open living area allows inhabitants to offer their guests more than just social interaction.

Suspended in the middle of this interactive space, a wood-burning stove warms up the interiors in days when the weather does not permit opening the large sliding doors. Beyond this comfortable social area, the deck opens with a surprisingly simple invitation to enjoy the lowered seating deck. The upper level shelters three bedrooms, an open TV room and a spacious bathroom with double showers and a bathtub.  The master bedroom has easy access to a large terrace gathering lovely views of the surroundings. There is also a small separate guest apartment, a garage and storage building, making the property perfect for a family living near the city.
Can you see yourself living in a modern villa like this one?

Contemporary Home With Dramatic Views of the San Francisco Skyline

Located in a dense neighborhood in San Francisco, this modern home designed by studio SB Architects takes advantage of a unique area in Bernal Heights, where privacy is not just a beautiful dream. The architects explain: “The goal for this project was to seize the unique zoning opportunity to build a new home on this desirable, but never-developed, corner site in a dense San Francisco neighborhood. The basic envelope was shaped in large part by the neighborhood planning code, which dictated elements such as bay windows, notched side yards and inset entries to create movement and shadow along the street-scape. While the design is rooted in the local vernacular and code within this traditional San Francisco neighborhood, the interpretation is distinctly clean and modern“. The project seems to unfold from a central staircase, wrapped by private areas and complemented by dramatic skylight views of San Francisco. Private spaces are located on the bottom floor, while public areas take advantage of the position of the upper level, where natural light reigns throughout.
