An apartment with a zest for display!

There's something about this Gothenburg apartment which really stands out. The high ceilings and original features from 1907 and the mid century touches certainly play a part in it's fabulousness. But what I notice most is the shelving and other display units and how they differs in style throughout every corner of the home! Whether it's String, IKEA or Vitra, the designers have really thought about what they want and need and the best way to display treasured items.

Which style of shelving do you like the most?

In my bedroom we have a really high sloped ceiling and couldn't find the right shelving to fit the space. So in the end my husband set about designing and building a custom made unit complete with hooks and suspension wires (you can see a glimpse of it here)! Just goes to show, there's always a solution!

Have a lovely day!

A calm white Swedish home

Good morning and hello September! I read somewhere that September is meant to be the most relaxing month of the year. So let's put that to the test! Today's home tour is the picture of calm. It's been decorated in white throughout with just a touch of black and green throughout to create the perfect balance. A great way to start a relaxing month don't you think?!

I had a long chat with a friend last night about whether she should paint her bedroom floor light grey or grey 'wash it'  (yes, we take these things very seriously!). Looking at this home, I think I know the answer. What do you think?

Love, love love the Pia Wallén Cross Blanket as seen in the bedroom.

Some exciting news: being British you can imagine how much I love my tea. I'm therefore delighted to welcome new sponsor LØv Organic, producers of the most delicious, refreshing and soothing organic tea (did I also mention the packaging is beautiful?!). So exciting!  This September they're holding a 'LØv is' campaign and the lovely LØv Organic team are offering us all 15% off with code SCANDINAVIAN. Yay! Since it's the 'relaxing' month I'm going for LØv is Pure and the LØv is Zen variety (although I also have a bit of a penchant for Ginger-Lemon green tea). How about you?  You can keep up to date with the latest Løv Organics blends on Facebook and their international newsletter.

Oh and another note Kids Brand Store are celebrating their 3 year jubileum with 15% off everything (including my favourites Noa Noa, Molo and ChillNorway) for the next three days. Just thought you might want to know...see you there!!

Have a wonderful start to the week!

A Malmö home teeming with design classics

Some weeks I struggle to find beautiful Scandinavian inspired home tours to share. Other weeks they seem to fall into my lap. This week is definitely the latter - I'm so excited by the three posts I've shared already this week (here, here and here), do you find the same when you're blogging?! Today I've found another exciting space! This apartment is based here in Malmö, Sweden (who I might add, qualified for Champions League last night - amazing! Heja Malmö!). The space is teeming with real design classics (more of which below) and the pink peonies add just the right amount of colour to the otherwise monochrome space. Lovely!

So - the design classics I was talking about. I spy the Knoll Diamond arm chair, Eames DSW chairs and Tom Dixon Copper Shade light in the sitting room / dining area. By Lassen Kubus Bowl and Tom Ford coffee table book on the side table. Design House Stockholm Work Light and CH24 Wishbone chairs in the kitchen. Er, what else? Can you see anything I've missed?  Feel free to add anything you love in the comment section below!

For a beautiful vase I'm loving the Klong Äng right now. It recently won best interior accessory in the Elle Decoration Swedish Design Awards 2014. It's top of my birthday wishlist!

Have a lovely day!

A fabulous Swedish apartment in Malmö

Hejsan, hejsan! I hope you had a fabulous weekend?! Have I got the most amazing home tour to share today!  Excitingly the apartment is for sale right here in Malmö, Sweden and situated on a lovely square in the town centre called Davidshallstorg (if you're visiting Malmö go there to enjoy vintage and quirky clothes boutiques, restaurant Mrs Brown and a short walk to one of my favourite haunts the Victoria picnic theatre). Every room in this spacious apartment is so fresh and light thanks to the white walls, high ceilings and double doors. The owners clearly have a fantastic sense of style too decorating the space with a perfect mix of designer pieces and high street finds. My Monday morning has just got infinitely better!

Could you move in here?!

A cottage in the Stockholm archipelagos

I don't know what the weather's like where you are but here it's starting to feel....er.....dare I say it....Autumnal. So today I thought I'd add a little sunshine here on the blog instead. And if I close my eyes this rainy, windy Tuesday morning I can dream I'm at on this beautiful waterside cottage. It's the fabulous home of one of Sköna Hem blogger Åsa Myrberg of @mycasa on Ekerö in the Stockholm archipelagos. If the beautiful, light filled and relaxed interior doesn't do it for you, the setting certainly will. Summer anyone?

What an incredible place to spend long summer days?! The Stockholm archipelagos really are fantastic too.

For more Scandinavian summer cottage dreaming click here - warning, you'll need to pour yourself a cup of tea first - there are hundreds of them! (the home above might come up first, if so, scroll past it).

I'm off to The Conference in Malmö today - anyone else going? Last year's was so inspiring!

Have a wonderful Tuesday.

The bohemian summer home of a Swedish fashion photographer

Many Swedes choose to spend their summers on the beautiful east coast island of Gotland and I can totally understand why. One such person is fashion photographer Peter Gerhke (who has shot for H&M among many other brands) and his family. The family's relaxed, bohemian style stone country house is radically different from their permanent residence in Stockholm which is decorated with a far more contemporary feel. The family spend their time at the summer cottage bare foot, enjoying the grape vines and fig trees in the garden, cooking using home grown vegatables and herbs or fishing and swimming in the clear waters of the Baltic sea. Now that's a way to spend a summer!

I love the idea of hanging out bare-foot and care-free don't you?!

My favourite room, has to be the bathroom. I love free standing baths in the middle of the room, and just look at that beautiful original wood floor!

For more inspriation from Gotland you might want to check out this former light house keeper's cottage, the idyllic summer home of the blogger behind a Beautiful Living, and a beautiful Swedish summer retreat. Summer on Gotland 2015 anyone?!

It's Friday - woohoo! Any great plans for the weekend? Whatever you do I hope you have a fantastic couple of days. See you Monday!
